Repair and maintenance
Mini-splits need their filters washed and their indoor coils and blower wheels cleaned. A dirty blower wheel is the most common cause of weak airflow, odors and water dripping from the indoor head.

Single-zone vs. multi-zone
A single-zone system pairs one outdoor unit with one indoor head, which is ideal for one room. A multi-zone system runs two to five indoor heads from one outdoor unit, each with its own temperature control. For a whole house without ductwork, several single-zone systems are sometimes more reliable and easier to service than one large multi-zone.
Installation details that matter
- Indoor heads placed where they can reach the whole room without blowing on people
- Line sets run cleanly with proper insulation and a sealed wall penetration
- Condensate drained properly, with a pump where needed
- Outdoor unit raised on a stand or wall bracket, clear of snow, leaves and flood water

How many rooms can one mini-split handle?

Do mini-splits heat too?
Yes. They're heat pumps and provide both heating and cooling.
Why is my mini-split dripping water?
Usually a clogged drain or a dirty coil and blower wheel. It's a quick fix when caught early.
