What to do while you wait
No cooling
Check the thermostat is on COOL and set below room temperature. Check the breaker for the outdoor unit. Replace a clogged filter. If the lines are iced, turn the system off so it can thaw.
No heat
Check the thermostat is on HEAT and the batteries are good. Check the furnace switch and breaker. Don't keep pressing the furnace reset button.
Water leaking
Turn the system off at the thermostat, catch the water, and move valuables. A clogged condensate drain is the usual cause.
Burning smell or CO alarm
Turn the system off and get everyone outside. For a CO alarm or gas smell, call 911 or your gas utility first.
Emergencies we handle
- AC not cooling or not turning on
- Furnace or heat pump not heating
- Water leaking from an attic air handler
- No hot water
- Breakers tripping when the system starts
Restaurants and commercial kitchens: see emergency restaurant repair.
$75 diagnostic, waived with the repair. For home service calls, the diagnostic visit is $75. Approve the flat-rate repair price and the $75 is waived. Nothing starts until you say yes.
How to avoid the next emergency
Most emergency calls we run could have been caught earlier: a weak capacitor, a clogged drain line, a dirty flame sensor. Spring and fall tune-ups catch most of them before the hottest or coldest day of the year.
