How Ace prices a home service call
- $75 diagnostic. A technician finds the cause of the problem.
- Flat-rate repair price. You get one price for the repair, explained in plain English.
- Your approval. Approve the repair and the $75 diagnostic is waived. Decline and you only pay the $75.
What drives the cost of a repair
- The part. A capacitor costs far less than a compressor.
- Refrigerant. Leak repairs cost more than parts swaps, and older R-22 systems are expensive to recharge.
- Access. Tight attics and crawlspaces add time.
- Warranty. Parts under manufacturer warranty can reduce the cost.
Watch out for
- Hourly billing with no estimate
- Pressure to replace a system that could be repaired
- A price that changes after the work is done
